Help shape the future of strata in NSW

The NSW Government is reviewing strata laws

The NSW Government is reviewing the laws under the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015 and Strata Schemes Development Act 2015.

Their review covers managing common property, resolving disputes, by-laws including animals, committee and owners corporation meetings, mixed-use schemes, strata renewal and much more.

Your feedback will help them understand how they can improve the experience for everyone living or working in a strata scheme in NSW.

For more information on the review, please read the discussion paper.

Pets in strata

They are also asking about recent changes to the law about keeping pets in strata properties. They would like to know what you think are the main issues for strata residents when animals are kept on the property.

These changes mean that keeping animals in a strata scheme can’t be prohibited unless the animal unreasonably interferes with another resident’s use and enjoyment of their property or the common property. The Government will be putting more detail in a regulation later this year, to set out the circumstances in which keeping an animal causes unreasonable interference.

Have your say by completing a quick poll, surveys and/or uploading a submission on their website.
